Hurricane Ian scared off tourists.

"Summers use to be pretty good here with a steady flow of tourists - THEN came hurricane Ian.

The following year summer bookings were down XX% as fears of another hurricane season was at the forefront of all the media outlets, and in hindsight writing this and thanks to hurricane Idalia, I guess they were right.

 

Fast forward to today and the prospect of another lousy summer of bookings in 2024, we had to devise a cunning plan, and that's when I had the crazy idea of a hurricane guarantee. What if we guaranteed our guests a full refund if a hurricane made landfall on our coastline between everglades city 93 miles South and Cedar Key 160 miles North during their stay, in reality we are offering the prospect of a totally free vacation, that could be a good incentive to book our managed houses over anyone else.

But how about you the owner, why should you not get paid - well you should, I'm hoping with fingers crossed that we don't get another hurricane soon, that gives me a chance to make some money from this plan before I have to pay out.

 

So how does it work, easy, I get 2% more commission on bookings and when the hurricane hits,  our guest in your house gets all their money back and you still get paid like normal"
